Please be sensitive and open to the teachers’ decision as to which level you belong in. ** After the level check there will be 5 levels
LEVEL 0

— Curious

You’ve seen Lindy Hop and maybe even tried it out a bit, and you think this just might be the dance for you.  You might have no experience other than seeing people dance.  Or maybe you’ve taken a month or two of classes and want to get more of the basics!  What better way than in an intensive workshop that also includes amazing parties at night with live music and some of the top dancers in Europe?

*this is a special 6-hour workshop for beginners

LEVEL 1

— Happiness

You’ve been dancing for at least 5 months  This is most likely your very first international Lindy Hop event – maybe your international debut! You know 6-count basics and 8-count swing outs and circles, as well as Charleston basics including Tandem Charleston. You are still getting comfortable mixing all of these elements as well as connecting to your partner, although you’re ready for some rhythm variations!

*There’s no level check for this level.  We trust you have your basics!

LEVEL 2

— Communication

You truly feel like a Lindy Hopper now – you’ve been dancing Lindy Hop for about a year and your basics are solid (see Level 1). . .  and you want more!  You’re in control of the different basic rhythms of Charleston and Triple Step and can mix them easily. You are eager to learn more rhythms and patterns as well as get comfortable dancing slow or fast tempos. You’re interested in exploring leading and following technique and musicality!

*There’s a level check on Friday morning for Communication, Expression and Freedom levels.

LEVEL 3

— Expression

You are inspired and creative when you dance. With a very good control of your basics, you are now getting bolder exploring variations and musicality and letting things flow. You can lead or follow clearly and are getting more comfortable with slow and fast tempos. You want to have more smooth lead/follow technique with some more complex connections. At this point, you are very interested in improving your dance quality, not just learning more moves.

*There’s a level check on Friday morning for Communication, Expression and Freedom levels.

LEVEL 4

Freedom

You are now a dancer that gets noticed in your local scene because you have created your own style.  You dance outside of the box with numerous variations. Your understand partner connection and can adapt your dancing to different partners.  You can dance slow or fast tempos, although you still want to improve your control and comfort doing this. Your basics in solo jazz are solid and this is obvious in your partner dancing. Working on dance concepts and connection is more important to you than simply learning moves.
